Hypersomnia is the opposite of insomnia. People with hypersomnia sleep too much. Of course, “too much” is a subjective evaluation. You can always argue that the person “needs” that much sleep, and in reality, there is no fixed amount of sleep that’s right for everyone.

But serious medical people try to define hypersomnia as a real medical phenomenon. It is an excessively deep or prolonged major sleep period. Persons with hypersomnia are compelled to nap repeatedly during the day, often at inappropriate times such as at work, during a meal, or in conversation. These daytime naps usually provide no relief from symptoms.

Like insomnia, hypersomnia can have many causes, and in many or most cases, the cause is unknown. Some people appear to have a genetic predisposition to hypersomnia. It may be associated with difficulty in awakening. It is believed to be caused by the central nervous system and can be associated with a normal or prolonged major sleep episode and excessive sleepiness consisting of prolonged (1-2 hours) sleep episodes of non-REM sleep. The onset is insidious (gradually, so you are not aware of it at first). Hypersomnia typically affects adolescents and young adults. This condition typically appears before age 25.

A person with hypersomnia may sleep up to twelve hours a night, and still need frequent daytime naps. Most hypersomnia is idiopathic, or periodic, and episodes may occur weeks or months apart. If the condition is diagnosed as recurrent hypersomnia, this is also called Kleine-Levin Syndrome. Post-traumatic stress disorder sometimes includes hypersomnia as a symptom.

Patients often have difficulty waking from a long sleep, and may feel disoriented. Other symptoms may include anxiety, increased irritation, decreased energy, restlessness, slow thinking, slow speech, loss of appetite, hallucinations, and memory difficulty. Some patients lose the ability to function in family, social, occupational, or other settings. Hypersomnia may be caused by another sleep disorder (such as narcolepsy or sleep apnea), dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system, or drug or alcohol abuse. In some cases it results from a physical problem, such as a tumor, head trauma, or injury to the central nervous system. Certain medications, or medicine withdrawal, may also cause hypersomnia.

Treatment for hypersomnia often attacks the symptoms, not the underlying cause, often because the underlying cause is unknown or no treatment for the cause exists. So doctors often prescribe stimulants just to keep people awake, including amphetamine, methylphenidate, and modafinil. Other drugs used to treat hypersomnia include clonidine, levodopa, bromocriptine, antidepressants, and monoamine oxidase inhibitors. Specialists also recommend sleep hygiene practices similar to those for other sleep disorders.

The prognosis for persons with hypersomnia depends on the cause of the disorder. The disorder itself is not life threatening, but in our modern society falling asleep at the wrong time can be dangerous, such as in drowsy driving. The attacks usually continue indefinitely.

Kleine – Levin Syndrome is a recurrent form of hypersomnia. It is also called recurrent hypersomnia. Narcolepsy could also be classified as a form of hypersomnia.

“Like all other forms of pleasure, sleep may become a passion” – Jean-Anthelme Brillat-Savarian – The Pyschology of Taste, 1825

Are you bored at school / college and want to install some flash games to play, but you can’t ’cause your user rights are limited? You’re still there and desire to play some solitaire or do anything else, but you can’t ’cause Admin is set to be private?

This should solve your problem, at last ! I’ve done this too, so trust me from personal experience it works fast and easy with just a few steps.

Simply download safely the OphCrack. The Ophcrack Windows password cracker is the best free Windows password recovery tool available. Ophcrack is fast and easy enough for a first time password cracker with basic Windows skills.

Save time and energy by skipping the other tools (even the expensive premium Windows password recovery programs) and download, burn and use the LiveCD version of Ophcrack.

After just a few minutes of running the software, Ophcrack will find all of your passwords and display them on screen! Yes, it’s that easy! Visit Their Website at; http://pcsupport.about.com/gi/o.htm?zi=1/XJ&zTi=1&sdn=pcsupport&cdn=compute&tm=103&f=10&su=p284.9.336.ip_p504.1.336.ip_&tt=4&bt=1&bts=1&zu=http%3A//ophcrack.sourceforge.net/

Guidance
After downloading, burn the Ophcrack ISO image to a CD. Burning an ISO file is a different than burning a normal file. Check out How to Burn an ISO Image File to a CD or DVD for more on that topic.

After burning, boot to the CD by rebooting your PC with the disc in the drive. Linux will load, Ophcrack will start, and the password recovery will begin. After burning, boot to the CD by rebooting your PC with the disc in the drive. Linux will load, Ophcrack will start, and the password recovery will begin.

Ophcrack will locate the users on your Windows system and begin cracking their passwords. The process is automatic – you don’t usually need to type or click anything. When the passwords are displayed on screen, write them down. Remove the CD, reset your computer and log on to Windows with your newly recovered password.

The Ophcrack LiveCD requires some preparation but this password recovery tool is by far the best!

Ever wondered… Where and When did Halloween Start?

About 2,000 years ago in the area of the world that is now Ireland, the United Kingdom, and northern France, lived a group of people called the Celts.  The Celts’ lives revolved around growing their food, and considered the end of the year to be the end of the harvest season.  So, they celebrated new year’s eve each year on October 31st with a festival called “Samhain,” named after their Lord of the Dead (also known as the Lord of Darkness).  Samhain (pronounced ‘sow-in’) was presided over by Celtic priests called Druids.

Back then, winter was the time of year associated with human death.  The Celts believed that on the night that marked the end of summer and the beginning of winter, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead blurred allowing ghosts of the dead to return to earth.  Celts thought that the presence of the ghosts made it easier for the Druids, their priests, to predict the future.  These predictions were an important source of comfort and direction for the Celts during their long, dark, frightening winters.

To celebrate Samhain, the Druids built huge sacred bonfires around which the Celts gathered to burn crops and animals as sacrifices to their ancient gods.  During the celebration, the Celts dressed up in costumes consisting of animal heads and skins and tried to tell each other’s fortunes.

The Celts eventually were conquered by the Romans, and by about the year 43 AD two Roman festivals were combined with the Celtic Samhain festival.  The first Roman festival was Feralia, a day in late October when the Romans traditionally commemorated the passing of the dead.  The second was a day to honor Pomona, the Roman goddess of fruit and trees.  The symbol of Pomona is the apple and the incorporation of this celebration into Samhain probably explains the tradition of “bobbing” for apples practiced today on Halloween.

By 800 AD, the influence of Christianity spread into Celtic lands.  In the seventh century, replace the Celtic festival of the dead with a related, but church-sanctioned holiday, Pope Boniface IV designated November 1st as All Saints’ Day, a time to honor saints and martyrs.  The combined and updated celebration was also called All-hallows or All-hallowmas (from Middle English Alholowmesse meaning All Saints’ Day) and the night before it, the night of Samhain, began to be called All-hallows Eve and, eventually, Halloween.

It’s not American as many claim. It’s in fact Irish…

These pills shall not be mix with any other medicine and especially alcohol. Alcohol also falls under the category of drug and by taking two kinds of drugs at once, it could be a risk where both of it interacts with one another have. The worst part is, it could lead to dead.

Well, worst, best it’s all relevant, right..? 🙂

Alcohol is a depressant, which slows the body’s reflexes, such as your breathing and heart rate making you feels fatigue and you snore even louder than you are not drinking alcohol. Alcohol could cause sleep apnea and it can be dangerous because it causes you to stop breathing during your sleep. This is what alcohol could do to you if you mix it with other drugs. Especially sleeping pills. Sleeping pills are categorize as downers, so both alcohol and downers compete for the same system in the liver and the liver could not handle the load so the drug molecules are reabsorbed and cycle throughout the body.

When taking both of it (sleeping pills and alcohol) together, you have lack of reflexes which makes you not able to concentrate and focus well. You might also have problems with visions and muscle relaxation which makes you could not walk. Your whole body gets very little oxygen and you could fall into a coma. Your kidney and liver may not be able to function during the coma and you can die from cardiac arrest which is why you should never mix alcohol and sleeping pills.

Of course, that is if you don’t want to kill yourself 🙂

Sleeping pills makes your whole body relax and tired so that you would want to go to sleep and it is made to give you approximately 8 hours of good sleep. This pill could make you sleep so soundly that you are not aware of anything around you. Sleeping pills might help you sleep better, but if you are suffering from insomnia, it cannot be corrected with pills. It is just a temporary solution and you need to consider several things before taking it such as get a medical history from your doctor and go for a physical examination. Your doctor might be able to tell you your conditions if it is okay for you to take sleeping pills without any possible risk.

Just informative… 🙂

There, standing in the crowd.

Making no difference.

Making no sound.

Only sudden moves.

As she realises, it’s all an illusion.

In her nothingness a dream.

In her loneliness a break.

Putting an end is all she keeps thinking

Empty eyes on her face with tears along

Staring in her darkness without even blinking

Wondering the taste of death all alone

Silence stops now

A little sound is heard

No wondering how

Broken things were made
By her

Can you imagine what it must feel like to be an animal undergoing toxicity experiments in a laboratory? The forced exposure to chemicals can cause terrible pain, nausea, muscle spasms –– even organ failure and death –– all without the benefit of pain relief. It must seem like no one cares about you or even knows you’re suffering.

But Care2 and Humane Society International (HSI) care about animals used in experiments, and we know you do, too.

As you read this, millions of mice, rats, rabbits, dogs and other animals are enduring needless pain in chemical-poisoning tests in labs around the world. Please donate to Humane Society International to help end animal testing forever.

Scientists and government regulators are beginning to recognize that testing on animals isn’t the answer, but is in fact part of the problem. Results of animal tests can take months or years to obtain, and even then they may not be relevant to people. HSI is determined to make animal testing a thing of the past.

HSI’s vision of a future without animal testing is shared by some of the world’s leading toxicologists. Lab rats will be replaced by lab robots, and human cell cultures and high-tech computer models will be used instead of 1930’s-era animal experiments. This is 21st century science, and HSI is helping to lead the way, but they need your support to continue their work.

With your help, Humane Society International can keep pressure on governments and companies to act more quickly, to invest even more in alternatives and to save even more animals’ lives.. A future without animal testing isn’t science fiction — it’s science fact, and together we can make it happen.
Please make a donation now so that someday soon no more animals will have to endure life– or death– in labs.

Thank you for your generosity!
